New Year New You Review

The New Year, New You Residents Celebration Event, held at The Trampery on 31st January 2025, was a resounding success, recognising the commitment of Haringey residents who participated in a series of upskilling workshops throughout January.

The event commenced with an inspiring opening address by Councillor John Bevan, setting the tone for an afternoon dedicated to celebrating personal and professional growth. Attendees engaged in a lively interactive quiz, followed by motivational addresses from Sharon Bolton (Delivery Manager), Lashly Rose (Health and Social Care Employment Advisor), and Livingston Gilchrist (MLB), who shared valuable insights on career development and resilience.

A highlight of the event was hearing from Michelle Duffour, a Haringey resident, who shared her journey of progression from an Administrator at Haringey Works to a Project Coordinator role in Enfield, demonstrating the impact of local employment support initiatives.

Adding to the inspiration, the audience was enthralled by a powerful poem from David Hart Employment Specialist on the resident’s employment journey whilst highlighting the best of the sites and scenes of Haringey. The poem resonated deeply, capturing the challenges and triumphs of job seekers in the borough.

The closing remarks by Mayor Sue Jameson reinforced the council’s commitment to supporting residents in their employment journeys. The event concluded with refreshments, networking opportunities, and an appreciation of the efforts made by all participants.

The New Year, New You programme, which began on 6th January, offered a range of workshops covering topics such as “Age is No Barrier,” “Goal Setting and Resilience,” and “Managing Stress and Anxiety During Interviews.” The celebration event served as a recognition of the dedication and hard work of those who took part. These residents are part of a movement of residents who are determined to change their circumstances by getting a new job or changing careers.
